About Festival of Strings

Festival of Strings, now in its 18th season, offers several programs designed for young musicians interested in developing their instrumental technique, improving their performance level, and furthering their love and appreciation of music.

Students in the Debut Orchestra will work with professional musicians in a variety of settings - sectionals, orchestra rehearsals and master classes. General music classes will include presentations given by guest artists. Students will perform as an ensemble in the chamber music concert on Saturday afternoon, June 13.

Selected students from the Debut Orchestra may be eligible to participate in the Debut Chamber Music Program. Students in this program will participate in a small ensemble and receive daily coachings from a faculty member.

The Festival Chamber Music Program is open to advancing string players. Students will rehearse and receive daily coaching from faculty members. Students will participate in master classes and receive presentations by faculty members and guest artists. All chamber music groups will perform in the final concert. String players will also participate in chamber music reading sessions during the week and perform in a large ensemble as the closing performance in the final concert.

The Prima Volta Ensemble is a beginning level performing ensemble designed to strengthen music reading ability and ensemble skills. Students will perform as an ensemble in the chamber music concert on Saturday afternoon, June 13.
